An infusion of the fresh juice is used for urinary and bladder conditions, and for the cleansing of the blood. The juice is used for burns and skin affectations (Gonzàlez F. 1979; Gonzàlez F. and Gonzàlez S. 1980; Linares, Penafiel, and Bye 1988; Sànchez C. 1981; Uphof 1968).

Cultivated throughout India,wild on coasts of Maharashtra, Gujarat and South India.

Action:
Purgative (causes griping), emmenagogue.
Gel—topically emollient, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial (used for wound healing, sunburn).
